Hi, My name is sharlet I have 2 dachshunds that have both experienced slipped discs. I have found that dex s not the best prescribed anti-inflammatory out there.
Prednisone is better tolerated by dachshund stomachs. I also have experience with Rimadyl. My youngest boy had a severe case of a herniated disc, after being given Rimadyl for 14 days, which did nothing to help at all. Also never let a vet prescribe Rimadyl and prednisone at the same time. It is very hard on dachshunds liver.
