I have had two episodes with my little mini doxie only this time it is worse. I didn't take her to the vet until the next day whereas, the first time, I took her right after it happened. She recovered the first time in about 4-6 weeks. She acted paralyzed yesterday but I was told today she seems to have more feeling. It happened 4 days ago. She's been on steroids, pain killers and muscle relaxants. Do you think there is a good possibility of a good recovery after 4 days of almost non-existant response to pinching and not standing up on her hind legs? I was told today she did stand up on her hind legs. I don't want to get my hopes up too high but I still want to think she will have some mobility in her back legs. I am told the surgery has a 50/50 chance and is over $2 grand. As much as I love the dog, that is not a possible option even if I had the money, especially with a 50/50 chance. Should I ask the vet about "Dex"? Should I get her on glucosamine which is used for osteo arthritis?
